How it all began

In 1983, the architect Wilhelm Friedrich Weiler, who was born and raised in Harheim, built the Harheimer Hof Hotel, which he planned and which was ceremoniously opened in 1986 as part of the 1200-year celebration of the Frankfurt district.

Until its opening, the rooms of the hotel were used by the Hessischer Rundfunk as director’s and dressing rooms during the filming of the television series “Die Wilsheimer – ein Dorf in Frankfurt”. In 1985, a large part of the village population was on its feet to take part in the television six-parter of the Hessischer Rundfunk together with Hans-Jörg Felmy and Gila von Weitershausen in the leading roles; Iris Berben, Dieter Kirchlechner, Monika Bleibtreu, Regine Lutz and others in other roles.

But even after that, illustrious guests kept coming to the small district and in 2017 it again served as an overnight accommodation for the actors of Hessischer Rundfunk’s first web series. For weeks, the mainly very young actors rehearsed their role texts in the rooms of the hotel.
